I visited game reserves in Africa for 40 years and has been removed during a recent trip to Chobe National Park to see a pair of lions in a tree. Yes, no hallucination.
This was the first for me - and also for our Rangers game. I had heard of tree climbing lions of Lake Manyara in Tanzania, but I've never seen anything like it in my travels in South Africa. It's been a truly amazing spectacle and took us all by surprise. These two beauties looked as if they had eaten and had decided to climb a tree and the comfort of a pleasant afternoon nap.
We have seen at least half an hour and only stayed, occasionally sat down to watch us, then dropped again. They were clearly not going anywhere fast. What an incredible sighting and unique! And 'certainly made our game drive in Chobe special. Just a note to any safari - in national parks is not allowed to go astray, while the private hunting and you can do at the track because the animal rights in Bush for a meeting very closely.
In this case I could not have a very good image, because we were so far and I just had my regular digital camera. I just wish I could have got more - or would have had my old camera with a zoom with me. However, the case was still recorded for posterity ...
